Steel framework, lights, posters
The title of this work is taken from William Morris’s classic 1890 novel, which combines a socialist utopian vision with science fiction. The framework is a standard market stall construction, echoing a passage in the book where a market is walked through, coated with silver enamel. The posters were made from collages and other material gathered over a long period, printed in large numbers they can be taken away by viewers. Central to these posters is a series of five images titled ‘Headlines’ which use titles of common magazines and sci-fi/fantasy comics to create possible announcements.
